An expectant mother has admitted that she has been shammed and branded a 's**t' in public because she doesn't have a 'ring on her finger.'
The unnamed woman took to Reddit to detail how people had turned 'horrible' after discovering that she was pregnant and unmarried.
In a thread titled, Pregnant, the restaurant manager revealed that she used to receive a flood of tips before she fell pregnant.
However, now that she is expecting, people are treating her differently.
She admitted that people have made comments about her pregnancy, with many questioning why she isn't married and even claiming she has a 'beer belly.'
The post was titled: 'People turn horrible.'
She wrote: 'I'm a restaurant manager, 27 weeks, and you can very clearly tell now that I'm pregnant.
'Before I was showing/got pregnant, people were nice, tipped well, and took any mistakes I was apologizing for as a brush off. Now they get argumentative and rude!
'I've had comments about my "beer belly" and apparently I'm a "s**t" because I don't have a ring on my finger.
'I didn't realize that I had some weird form of pretty privilege when I wasn't pregnant, where people didn't treat me nice because I was pretty, but because I was skinny.
'Has anyone else noticed the same?'
People flooded the comments section and shared their thoughts on the shocking incident.
Many moms even took to the social media platform to echo the expectant mom's story as they claimed they had gone through the same thing.
One person said: 'I’ve had this same experience! People have been so rude now it’s insane.
'I had one of my older guy customers tell me (shaking his head) “you messed up you should’ve just stuck to practicing” which I thought was extremely rude and inappropriate.'
Someone else added: 'Who is out here pregnant with their rings still fitting?! In all seriousness I’m really sorry, that sucks!'
Another user wrote: 'I’ve experienced this too.'
'I’m so sorry that you have to deal with that abuse,' commented another person.
